Yes, by boat is undoubtedly the best way to explore the BVI. Of the 50+ islands and Cays that make up the BVI, just 15 are inhabited. There are wrecks and reefs to snorkel and explore, and beach bars or resorts to stop at for lunch.
Day Sail / Sunset Cruise
The BVI's are one of the top sailing destinations in the world - people are enticed by the beauty as well as the accessibility of so many islands so close together, not to mention the history of swashbuckling pirates and shipwrecks! Take a leisurely daysail or sunset cruise to experience the feeling of freedom, adventure and exclusivity. Here are some of our favourites Kuralu and Aristocat, both have a fun crew and great excursions to Jost Van Dyke, Norman Island or The Baths on different days. New additions that guests have recently recommended are Anne Bonny Charters and Adventure Charters BVI.
Motor boat rental
DayTripsBVI are our favourite, and are conveniently located at Soper's Hole, their 26' "IRIE" is perfect for a captained day or half-day charter including snorkelling equipment and 2 SUP boards. Scuba-diving can also be arranged. Captain Debs is passionate about the reef and snorkeling, she takes you to the best spots!
Dedes Charters and Fishing have a great selection of boats and exceptional service and reviews. Charter a captained and provisioned boat or rent by the day to explore by yourselves. They'll meet you at your most convenient dock.
Saltshaker is another great option for offshore fishing
Island Time is a great, reliable boat rental company with an ever-expanding fleet of well-maintained boats, located at Nanny Cay.
Rent a RIBB for an exhilarating time out on the water and easy access to the many deserted beaches around the BVI.
Quite simply a must! These amazing, huge boulders are surprisingly breath-taking. Hike through them, climbing steps and wading through shallow water and end up at Devil's Bay. Particularly fun for kids of all ages...you just have to keep up with them! Great photo-ops. Take a ferry from Road Town or get there by charter boat or day-sail. There's a restaurant at the entrance aptly named Top of the Baths! Speedys Ferry schedule.
Simply stunning! Call us crazy but it's our getaway when Tortola is too hectic! Measuring 11 miles by 3 and completely flat, the island is surrounded by pristine beaches and snorkelling, lobster is on every menu.....Anegada Beach Club is THE spot. Glamp it up for a romantic night in a beach front tent cottage or just hang out for the day. The Anegada Express is a great ferry service operating out of Da Loose Mongoose in Trellis Bay. Also be sure to explore Cow Wreck Beach and Loblolly, rent a MOKE and cruise around the island at your leisure.
Tommy Gaunt Kitesurfing, Anegada Beach Club
Looking for an exhilarating new hobby or just to improve your skills? Look no further, Tommy is an amazing coach and the location is a dream.
JOST VAN DYKE
Made famous by the likes of Kenny Chesney, Foxy and The Soggy Dollar Bar and it's addictive "Painkiller" rum concoction. There is more to see....the Bubbly Pool, ATV rides, One Love Bar and more..... The New Horizon ferry leaves from West End which is nice and close for most of the villas that we manage.
Whether you've always wanted to try surfing, or you're a complete beginner, check out Surf School BVI for some lessons with our friends down at the beautiful Josiah's Bay in East End. Arrange an individual or group lesson at this gorgeous beach break.
Explore the beauty and history of the BVI with a peaceful day of guided hiking, snorkelling, kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding through the mangroves with Alex.
Fancy diving The Wreck of the Rhone where "The Deep" was filmed? Or perhaps one of the other many wrecks or caves.....when you see the fabulous, clear, turquoise waters here, you'll certainly be tempted! Blue Water Divers can accommodate any diving requirement from beginner to advanced. And if diving's not for you, rent a snorkel and mask and you'll be mesmerized by the stunning sea-life just inches from the surface at many of our easily accessible beaches.
A personal favourite of mine... oceanfront sunset sessions twice a week at Nanny Cay. Get your Namaste on!
Conveniently located above Pussers Landing at Soper's Hole, Island Surf and Sail is our favourite stop for a bit of fun and adventure with watertoys.....from kayaks to fishing gear, from SUP boards to surfboards, from kids sand-toys and snorkels to boogie-boards and floats, they have it all! And delivery to your door could not make it easier....
HikeBVI Guided walking tours throughout the BVI, including lesser known spots.
Head to Trellis Bay, East End. Families can relax together to the chilled vibe on the beach.....watch Moko Jumbies and Aragorn's dancing fireball sculptures, listen to live music and eat the local BBQ.
A drive out to Aragorn's Studio is well worth the effort at any time. It is the best place to find genuine Caribbean crafts, jewellery, pottery and gifts on the island. As it's located past the airport, perhaps combine it with a trip to the beautiful Josiahs Bay beach in the East End. Ask for details of Aragorn's Good Moon Farm tours to learn a little about the local history and agriculture.
For a special treat visit one of these spots, or even better have them visit you at your villa...Amara Spa at Nanny Cay or Road Town, or Driftwood Spa at West End & Soper's Hole Marina.
