Property Details

The picture-perfect Caribbean villa with pretty colours, quaint gingerbread trim & amazing ocean views. Not just a pretty face, it’s designed with maximum privacy for each guest & amenities you don’t find everywhere!

Its elevation in the hills creates views of the glimmering ocean & neighbour islands with a secluded feeling. BUT you’ll be just 550 yards from Long Bay’s white-sand beach & oceanfront bars & restaurants

Solaria: 3-Bedroom Hillside Villa in Long Bay Estate

A Caribbean-style villa with maximum privacy design, 550 yards from Long Bay Beach. Three separate pavilions, L-shaped infinity pool, and ocean views toward Jost Van Dyke from every room.

Sleeps 6| 3 Bedrooms | 4 Bathrooms | 10-minute walk to beach

Solaria offers what most Long Bay villas don't: complete privacy for each guest. The three-pavilion layout means couples and families can enjoy shared spaces while maintaining separate retreats. The screened dining porch solves the mosquito problem without sacrificing ocean breezes. And at 550 yards from Long Bay's white sand, you're close enough to walk but elevated enough for unobstructed views.

Located in the exclusive Long Bay Estate on Tortola's West End, with walking access to beachfront restaurants and a secluded hillside setting that balances convenience with privacy.

This three-pavilion design creates natural separation—ideal for multi-generational families or friend groups who want both togetherness and privacy. Each bedroom pavilion functions as a self-contained suite with its own bathroom and outdoor access and you’ll find the living areas in the main house.

The front door leads into the heart of the house with ocean views everywhere you look. The living room is furnished comfortably for 6 or more, with breezes flowing through windows and doors on 3 of the walls. The 55″ flatscreen with local FLOW box is there if you need it as is the AC. A set of screened French doors leads to a small porch overlooking the ocean while 2 more sets of French doors lead directly onto the screened-in porch for relaxed dining al-fresco any time of day or night without the bother of mosquitos…I know some of you out there are very attractive to those little bugs!

The kitchen is well-equipped with stainless steel appliances and plenty of space for more than one chef in the house… The kitchen has a hatch making it easy to pass through to the screened-in dining room, and it has double doors leading to the indoor dining room which is decorated with a selection of pretty, eclectic pieces. Leave the French doors open for breeze or close and turn on the AC.

BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
It’s actually rare to find a villa with 3 such comparable bedrooms so that couples sojourning together don’t have to pull straws over who sleeps where! Each bedroom is fully screened, has a comfortable and beautifully dressed king-size wooden bed, an en-suite bathroom and French doors leading to a private balcony with seating, ocean breezes and mesmerising views of the azure waters

1) The primary suite is in the 2nd pavilion just short sunlight filled stroll past the pool. It’s a lovely room furnished with Balinese teak furniture with ensuite bathroom and a balcony that’s the perfect spot for a little reading, surrounded by the lush foliage rustling in the breeze.

2&3)The 3rd pavilion is to the right of the main entrance and houses two more bedrooms. One bedroom is upstairs with a 33” flatscreen TV with local FLOW box and a shower and tub in the bathroom; the other down a small flight of steps from the courtyard ensuring everyone has their privacy.

STEP OUTSIDE
Solaria is at the perfect elevation for the ocean to take on that glassy, serene appearance as yachts cruise by, and yet you can walk to Long Bay beach below in just minutes. The L-shaped pool and surrounding deck is the prefect spot to admire these views with a drink or book at hand with plenty of areas for both sun or shade-bathing. A secluded alcove behind the pool deck offers a built-in gas BBQ for grilling up some local Anegada lobster, and the deck is furnished with a 2nd option for al-fresco dining. The L-shaped pool measures approximately 30 feet on the longest side, with a depth ranging from 3.5 to 5 feet. The pool deck includes 6 loungers and a shaded seating area.

Neighborhood:

Solaria is located in the Long Bay Estate on Tortola's West End, at an elevation of approximately 200 feet above sea level. This hillside position provides unobstructed ocean views toward Jost Van Dyke while keeping the beach within a 10-minute walk (550 yards downhill). The return walk uphill takes 15-20 minutes due to the steep grade.

Long Bay Beach is one of Tortola's longest beaches at approximately 1 mile of white sand. The beach offers calm waters suitable for swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, and snorkeling. Two beachfront restaurants—1748 Restaurant and Beach Club Grill—are within 600 yards of the villa. Road Town, Tortola's capital, is a 20-minute drive (8 miles) east.

About Long Bay, Tortola
Long Bay is located on Tortola's northwest coast in the West End district. The area is known for its mile-long beach, consistent surf conditions (Long Bay is one of Tortola's few surfable beaches), and hillside villas with ocean views.

The Long Bay Estate community includes approximately 40 villas, a mix of vacation rentals and private residences. The neighborhood maintains a low-density feel—you won't see high-rise development or crowded beaches. Peak season (December through April) sees more activity, but Long Bay remains significantly quieter than Cane Garden Bay or Road Town.

LONG BAY (550 yards away)
At Long Bay you’ll find a mile-long stretch of white sand & turquoise waters & a selection of beachfront refreshment options – 1748 Restaurant, Tropical Fusion, Johnny’s Beach Bar & 1748 Coffee Shop. If you’re feeling energetic there’s Long Bay Beach Resort’s Tennis & Pickleball courts. A day pass will buy you hours of fun! Gym passes also available as well as a spa for a little pampering. You can also purchase a pool pass for the day ($100 pp incl $75 food & beverage credit & access to the pool. Under 12’s are free)

APPLE BAY (0.7 miles away)
A little village with world-class winter surf & a handful of bars and restaurants (Nardie’s Beach Bar at Sebastian’s, The Sugar Mill, Tramonti) for all occasions.

SMUGGLER’S COVE (1.3 miles away)
Smuggler’s Cove is idyllic & perfectly sheltered by its vibrant reef which provides sensational snorkeling & is home to Patricia’s laid-back beach bar. *cruise ship passengers sometimes come here so look online for the “BVI cruise ship schedule” to avoid the busier days.

CARROT BAY (1.5 miles away)
A charming village where you’ll find local fisherman, fruit stalls, North Shore Shell Museum and D’Coal Pot restaurant.

WINDY HILL (2.5 miles away)
Head to Stoutt’s Lookout for a chilled beer with an incredible view over the bay or Bananakeet (Heritage Inn) restaurant for one of the best dinner spots to watch the sunset on island.

SOPER’S HOLE MARINA (3 miles away)
Here you’ll find a great selection of restaurants (Omar’s Coffee House, Admiral’s Pub & Pusser’s Landing), a well-stocked grocery store, boat charter companies, shops, Driftwood Spa & more. West End Ferry Terminal is opposite (where you can catch ferries & water taxis to fellow British Virgin Island Jost Van Dyke and US Virgin Islands St John & St Thomas). Enquire with Soper’s Hole Marina & Lighthouse Marina for dock space if you have a boat.

CANE GARDEN BAY (3.8 miles away)
The buzziest beach on island, you’ll find a whole variety of Restaurants & Bars (Indigo Beach House, Elms, Paradise Bar, Myett’s plus many more) lining the water. You’ll also find a small grocery store, a white sand beach with calm swimming & options for watersports & Callwood’s Rum Distillery. *all these amenities mean that the cruise ship passengers come here, so look online for the “BVI cruise ship schedule” to avoid the busier days.

Transit
TERRANCE B. LETTSOME AIRPORT (EIS) (18.2 miles away)
is on Beef Island in the East End of Tortola (connected by bridge). It’s the only airport on Tortola and where you’ll fly into.

WEST END FERRY HARBOUR (3.1 miles away)
The closest place to catch a ferry to connect you to the US Virgin Islands (St Thomas & St John) and fellow BVI Jost Van Dyke

ROAD TOWN FERRY TERMINAL
Here you can catch ferries to the US Virgin Islands (St Thomas) and fellow British Virgin Islands (Anegada & Virgin Gorda)

SOPER’S HOLE MARINA, LIGHTHOUSE MARINA & NANNY CAY MARINA
Arriving by boat & looking for dock space? Try these marinas nearby.

Weather & Best Time to Visit
Tortola has a tropical climate with year-round warm temperatures. Average daytime temperatures range from 82°F (28°C) in winter to 88°F (31°C) in summer. Water temperature stays between 78-82°F year-round.
The dry season runs from December through May, with February through April seeing the least rainfall. Hurricane season is June through November, with peak risk in August and September. Most visitors prefer December through April for optimal weather conditions, though this is also peak pricing season.

Although there are ferries to connect you to other islands, the public transport in Tortola is basically non-existent and there’s so much to go and see but taxis add up quickly. Tortola is only 14 miles long by 3 miles at its widest, but it’s a mountainous island and the roads can be quite rugged. We can help you to reserve a 4WD SUV or direct you to recommended local car rental companies who understand that good 4WD vehicles are mandatory to explore with confidence. They can offer delivery to your port of entry or villa (we can help organise you a taxi to take you to the property) & carry a selection of cars & jeeps. Jerry’s Car Rental is our favourite and the easiest car rental company to work with online.

We had a wonderful stay at Solaria!

The property was beautiful and you couldn’t beat the view! The villa was exactly as listed, included many amenities and provided SO much useful information. The Solaria crew was top notch - so responsive and on the ball with everything. And I have to say, I think it was one of the cleanest rentals we’ve stayed at in our many years of traveling. I don’t think I would recommend any other location on the island. It was away from the hustle and bustle of cruise ship activity, but close to great restaurants and beautiful beaches. I would definitely recommend, and return to, Solaria!Sam and JC, thank you for sharing your property with us!

Awesome stay with friends at Solaria for a week!

Book this place!!!! It’s outstanding. Everything was excellent. I’ve traveled the BVI’s for decades. Nothing beats this house!! The check in was smooth. Everything you need, from extra towels, beach towels, kitchen utensils, etc was there. The pool was great. I read these reviews like everyone else and always say, ‘But what was wrong?’ Ok, I would suggest adding cushions to the pool lounge chairs. Stay here. Enjoy the view. Have a really good time!

Our stay was truly seamless

It was such a great property for three couples each getting their own room that locks with a keypad. I have also stayed at several Virgin island villas with views and this was by far the best view I’ve ever had. It was STUNNING. Also Sharlene the property manager was always available. No complaints whatsoever

Thanks for sharing, I'm glad you loved Solaria - we also love that the three king suites are so similar for three couples vacationing together. Thanks for booking with us.

Solaria is FABULOUS! The house is spacious, well-appointed, and nothing can beat the beautiful views. We have not stayed in Long Bay before, and highly recommend this as a perfect location for getting over to Smuggler's, the West End, Cane Garden Bay, and even into Road Town easily. Long Bay offers lots of great restaurants and beach bars, while still feeling secluded and private. There is absolutely nothing we could think of that would have made this trip any better other than staying longer than we did!

Sam, Sharlene, and Pinky were amazing and responsive, and it was nice having a mid-week housekeeping service as well. We will absolutely be back!

Everything was exactly as we expected from the listing, photos and pretty experience

Paradise with a view
View is exceptional and the villa is well appointed. Location is great. Near the beach. A relatively short walk , but steep trek returning to the villa. All in, I would highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions About Solaria

How far is Solaria from Long Bay Beach?

Solaria is located approximately 550 yards (500 meters) from Long Bay Beach. The walk downhill takes about 10 minutes via a paved path, while the return uphill walk typically takes 15–20 minutes due to the steep incline. Long Bay Beach is a mile-long stretch of white sand offering calm turquoise waters, beachfront restaurants, and water sports rentals.

How many people does Solaria accommodate?

Solaria comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests across three bedrooms. Bedroom 1 features a king-size bed, Bedroom 2 offers a queen-size bed, and Bedroom 3 includes two twin beds. Each bedroom is located in its own private pavilion with an ensuite bathroom, providing exceptional privacy for couples, friends, or multi-generational families.

Does Solaria have air conditioning?

Yes. All three bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning, and the main living area also features air conditioning. Thanks to the villa’s open cross-breeze design with windows and doors on three sides, many guests prefer natural ventilation. The screened dining porch allows you to enjoy outdoor meals comfortably without worrying about mosquitoes.

Is a car necessary when staying at Solaria?

Yes. A rental vehicle is highly recommended. While Long Bay Beach and nearby restaurants are within walking distance (approximately 10 minutes downhill), exploring other attractions such as Road Town (20 minutes), Cane Garden Bay (15 minutes), grocery stores, and other beaches is much easier by car. Complimentary parking is available at the villa.

What’s included in the Solaria rental?

Your stay at Solaria includes complimentary WiFi, beach towels, pool towels, bed linens, a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, beach chairs, coolers, snorkel gear, and midweek housekeeping service with linen changes and general cleaning. The villa also features an L-shaped swimming pool, gas grill, outdoor dining area, screened porch, and air conditioning in every bedroom and the main living area.

What makes Solaria different from other Long Bay villas?

Solaria’s unique three-pavilion design sets it apart from most Long Bay villas. Each bedroom is housed in its own separate pavilion with a private ensuite bathroom, offering outstanding privacy for couples and families traveling together. The villa’s screened porch is another standout feature, allowing guests to enjoy open-air dining without mosquitoes while taking in the refreshing Caribbean breeze.

How do I get to Solaria from the airport?

Most visitors arrive at Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) on Beef Island, Tortola. Solaria is approximately a 35-minute drive from the airport to the West End. A rental car or taxi is recommended, and Villas of Tortola can assist with arranging transportation and provide detailed driving directions after booking. Please note that driving in the British Virgin Islands is on the left-hand side of the road.

Is Solaria suitable for young children?

Solaria welcomes families, but parents should be aware that the property includes an unfenced swimming pool, multiple levels connected by outdoor stairs, and a hillside setting with steep drop-offs in certain areas. Families with children under five should consider whether the villa’s layout meets their comfort level. The separate pavilions are especially well suited for families with older children or teenagers.
