American Airlines started a new direct flight between Beef Island and Miami this winter (2023) which is a game-changer! It’s seasonal and isn’t operating from mid-August until late October. I know this flight is pricey but it takes HOURS off your travel time. *disclaimer, we travel mostly with air-miles 😉
There are generally a number of scheduled flights from San Juan, St Maarten, Antigua and other islands on the following airlines:
Silver Airlines (my new favourite as of August 2023), Seaborne Airlines, CapeAir, Liat, InterCaribbean, Winnair or Air Sunshine.
Private charter flights are available with Fly BVI and VI Airlink and Island Birds.
The 3 companies below alternate schedules so you just have to check the BVI PORTS AUTHORITY page to see which one is operating on any given date!
A private water taxi is a great way to travel directly to West End. This gives you the advantage of
1) travelling to your own schedule
2) a shorter boat ride from the USVI
3) arriving at West End which is just a 10-15 minute drive to most of the villas that we manage in Towers Estate, Apple Bay, Long Bay, Belmont Estate and Smugglers Cove
4) a shorter Immigration and Customs processing time on arrival than a ferry.
-The taxi ride from Cyril E. King airport to Charlotte Amalie ferry terminal takes 10-15 mins.
-The taxi ride from Cyril E. King airport to Red Hook takes a minimum of 25 minutes, longer at busy times of day.
– Other fees:
$10 Port Fee departing USVI
$10 Environmental Levy entering the BVI
$20 BVI Departure Tax ($15** for Residents)
Luggage fees billed separately by the ferries/taxis
