Persie’s Deck House is a vibrant Caribbean villa perched above Long Bay in West End, Tortola just across the street from the beach. Persie’s deck house is an idyllic retreat with lush tropical gardens and open indoor–outdoor living that captures the essence of island life.

As you arrive, you’ll be greeted by the trademark blue stairs that lead to lush greenery, bright blooms making it the perfect backdrop for your dream Caribbean getaway.

The villa’s design blurs the lines between indoor and outdoor living, creating a breezy, light‑filled environment throughout.

History
Persie’s Deck House takes its name from Persie Fischer, who first fell in love with Tortola in 1981. She purchased the property from a local known as “Rasta Mike” and began a long, passionate renovation journey with her daughter Julie, who handled all of the design.

Legend has it that Rasta Mike was good friends with Bob Marley, and the villa itself was a place they often frequented. After Persie’s passing, the home remained beloved by her family and is now shared with guests — allowing you to enjoy one of their favorite escape spots in the British Virgin Islands.

LONG BAY
At Long Bay you’ll find a mile-long stretch of white sand and turquoise waters and a selection of beachfront refreshment options – 1748 Restaurant, Tropical Fusion, Johnny’s Beach Bar and 1748 Coffee Shop. If you’re feeling energetic there’s Long Bay Beach Resort’s Tennis and Pickleball courts. A day pass will buy you hours of fun! You can also purchase a pool pass for the day ($100 pp incl $75 food & beverage credit & access to the pool. Under 12’s are free)

APPLE BAY (0.6 miles away)
A little village with world-class winter surf and a handful of bars and restaurants (Nardie's Beach bar at Sebastian’s, Sugar Mill, Tramonti) for all occasions.

SMUGGLER’S COVE (1.2 miles away)
Smuggler’s Cove is idyllic and perfectly sheltered by its vibrant reef which provides sensational snorkelling and is home to Patricia’s laid-back beach bar. *cruise ship passengers sometimes come here so look online for the “BVI cruise ship schedule” to avoid the busier days.

CARROT BAY (1.3 miles away)
A charming village where you’ll find local fisherman, fruit stalls, North Shore Shell Museum and D’Coal Pot restaurant.

WINDY HILL (2.3 miles away)
Head to Stoutts Lookout for a chilled beer with an incredible view over the bay or Banakeet (Heritage Inn) restaurant for one of the best cocktail and dinner spots to watch the sunset on island.

SOPER’S HOLE MARINA (2.9 miles away)
Here you’ll find West End Ferry Terminal (where you can catch boats to fellow British Virgin Island Jost Van Dyke and US Virgin Islands St John and St Thomas) and some great restaurants (Omar’s Coffee House, Omar’s Fusion, Admiral’s Pub & Pusser’s Landing), a well-stocked grocery store, boat charter companies, shops and more. Enquire with Soper’s Hole Marina and Lighthouse Marina for dock space if you have a boat.

CANE GARDEN BAY (3.5 miles away)
The buzziest beach on island, you’ll find a whole variety of Restaurants and Bars (Indigo Beach House, Elms, Paradise Bar, Myett’s plus many more) lining the water. You’ll also find a small grocery store, a white sand beach with calm swimming and options for watersports and Callwood’s Rum Distillery. *all these amenities mean that the cruise ship passengers come here, so look online for the “BVI cruise ship schedule” to avoid the busier days.

Our role is to make sure that the property is always in tip-top condition and that you have the best vacation possible. Tortola is our home, we know our villas inside-out and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have about the property ahead of time.

Transit
TERRANCE B. LETTSOME AIRPORT (EIS) (16.6 miles away)
(50 MIN DRIVE) is on Beef Island in the East End of Tortola (connected by bridge). It’s the only airport on Tortola and where you’ll fly into.

WEST END FERRY HARBOUR (2.9 miles away)
The closest place to catch a ferry to connect you to the US Virgin Islands (St Thomas & St John) and fellow BVI Jost Van Dyke

Arriving by boat and looking for dock space? Try these marinas nearby.

Although there are ferries to connect you to other islands, the public transport in Tortola is basically non-existent and there’s so much to go and see but taxis add up quickly. Tortola is only 12 miles long by 3 miles at its widest, but it’s a mountainous island and the roads can be quite rugged. We can help you to reserve a 4WD SUV or direct you to recommended local car rental companies who understand that good 4WD vehicles are mandatory to explore with confidence. They can offer delivery to your port of entry or villa (we can help organise you a taxi to take you to the property) & carry a selection of cars & jeeps. Jerry’s Car Rental is our favourite and the easiest car rental company to work with online.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations and any request for changes to your reservation (such as date changes or changes in the number of persons) must be made in writing by email and will be dealt with on a case for case basis.

- For cancellations received 61 days or more prior to your arrival 10% of your rental amount will be charged as a cancellation fee.

- For cancellations received 60 days or less prior to arrival 100% of your TOTAL is forfeited. If we’re able to
re-book the villa to another guest we will return to you 80% of the rent paid by the new guests for the
nights rebooked (the nights might be rented at a “last minute” discounted rate that’s less than you
originally paid).

- There will be no refund made for late arrivals or early departures.

Deposit Policy

PAYMENT POLICY
Once you reserve a property a deposit of 50% is due to confirm the reservation. The balance of 50% + the refundable damage deposit must be paid in full at least 60 days prior to your arrival. *If paying by credit card, Refundable Damage Deposits will not be charged until arrival.
