Space
LIVING AREAS:
The views really take the centre stage from anywhere on the property at any time of day, from pastel sunrises to inky night skies brimming with stars. Having said that, the interior of the villa are also beautiful. Neutral paint, furnishings and linens create a crisp and serene space. Splashes of ocean blues, greens and turquoises bring your stunning surroundings indoors.

Whale Watch starts as it means to go on, as you enter through large wooden doors into a little courtyard with stunning ocean views. The kitchen and living room are separated by a relaxed breakfast bar (with seating for 4) where you can sit and chat whilst cooking, and the kitchen is fitted with stainless Viking appliances making cooking at the villa a pleasure. The living room is comfortably furnished with squashy sofa and arm chairs and a Roku SmartTV and local FLOW cable. The kitchen and living room have plenty of ventilation, light and air with 2 walls of sliding doors (both glass and screened) which open out onto THOSE ocean views and a beautiful covered alfresco dining area. There are also powerful Hunter ceiling fans and the option of AC.

BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS:
The bedrooms are accessed by exterior doors only, reached by a covered walkway from the front door.

1)The Primary bedroom is a few steps up from the main level front door and features a king bed with matching custom-built teak bedroom set, AC, an ensuite bathroom with shower and of course, unbelievable views. The glass sliding doors lead out onto a personal balcony overlooking the pool and the bay below. This is a truly magical spot to enjoy a morning coffee whilst watching the miles of glistening ocean ripples.

No arguing over bedrooms necessary as the second bedroom (accessed by a few steps leading down from the main level) also boasts a king-sized bed (that can be arranged as 2 twins), AC, ensuite bathroom with shower and glass doors that slide out out onto your own personal balcony. The views are just as dreamy from here too.

STEP OUTSIDE:
The fabulous covered al-fresco dining porch has a teak dining table and seating for 8 and a large propane grill (with rotisserie accessories and more). There is also 2 hammock chairs for chilling with a good book or cold drink.

The sun deck is truly gorgeous, with 2 cushioned loungers for catching rays on, a couple pop comfy bean bag chairs and a wonderful pool to cool off in. And all with a backdrop like no other. You can access the sun deck from both bedroom balconies, the main dining porch and steps from the courtyard.

Neighborhood
Whale Watch is located on the westerly hillside overlooking Brewers Bay on the North shore of Tortola.

BREWERS BAY (0.7 miles away)
Just under a mile away is Brewer’s Bay – a quiet, tranquil white-sand beach with great snorkeling and Nicole’s Beach Bar.

MT HEALTHY NATIONAL PARK (1.6 miles away)
A 1 acre plot home to an 18th century windmill which was once used for grinding the sugarcane farmed from the steep slopes on the north shore of Tortola. An interesting and informative part of Tortola’s history.

CANE GARDEN BAY (2.3 miles away)
Cane Garden Bay is a hub of nightlife with plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry. To name a few, there’s Indigo House, Myetts, Elm’s Beach Bar, Paradise Club and Quito’s Gazebo for eating and drinking right on the beach. Many of these also have live music nights and fun events.

Bobby’s Marketplace has all the essentials for stocking up on groceries.
For beach activities, there’s plenty of places you can rent a lounger from (or just setup on the sand). The water is calm and clear and underfoot is sandy so it’s an excellent place for swimming. If you’re feeling adventurous, there is a shipwreck a very short swim out from the North end of the beach which is great to check out with a snorkel. There are also jet skis, paddle boards and kayaks which can be rented along the beach.

Callwood’s Rum Distillery is a great place to check out to see a local family business that has been running for over 200 years and to try some of their delicious tipples. *all these amenities mean that the cruise ship passengers come here, so look online for the “BVI cruise ship schedule” to avoid the busier days.

WINDY HILL (3.7 miles away)
Head to Stoutt’s Lookout for a chilled beer with an incredible view over the bay or Bananakeet (Heritage Inn) restaurant for one of the best dinner spots to watch the sunset on island.

CARROT BAY (4.3 miles away)
A charming village where you’ll find local fisherman, fruit stalls, North Shore Shell Museum and D’Coal Pot restaurant.

APPLE BAY (5.4 miles away)
A little village with world-class winter surf & a handful of bars and restaurants (Nardie’s Beach Bar at Sebastian’s, The Sugar Mill, Tramonti) for all occasions.

ROAD TOWN (4 miles away)
Here, you’ll have a choice of great restaurants, bars & coffee shops (Capriccio’s, Lady Sarah’s, Dragonfly, The Dove, Botella and Island Roots are some our faves), the Road Town ferry terminal which you can catch boats to Virgin Gorda & St Thomas, and plenty of shops for souvenirs (try Nutmeg & Co and EC Soap Co for locally made products and gifts). You’ll also find our largest grocery stores here (Riteway Pasea Estate and OneMart Superstore) plus specialty food stores like Steakation and The French Deli.

Transit
TERRANCE B. LETTSOME AIRPORT (EIS) (10 miles away)
is on Beef Island in the East End of Tortola (connected by bridge). It’s the only airport on Tortola and where you’ll fly into.

ROAD TOWN FERRY TERMINAL (4 miles away)
Here you can catch ferries to the US Virgin Islands (St Thomas) and fellow British Virgin Islands (Anegada & Virgin Gorda)

Although there are ferries to connect you to other islands, the public transport in Tortola is basically non-existent and there’s so much to go and see but taxis add up quickly. Tortola is only 14 miles long by 3 miles at its widest, but it’s a mountainous island and the roads can be quite rugged. We can help you to reserve a 4WD SUV or direct you to recommended local car rental companies who understand that good 4WD vehicles are mandatory to explore with confidence. They can offer delivery to your port of entry or villa (we can help organise you a taxi to take you to the property) & carry a selection of cars & jeeps. Jerry’s Car Rental is our favourite and the easiest car rental company to work with online.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Whale Watch

Everything was as advertised. It really is a private location, and has great views of Brewers Bay. I read a lot of comments about the road access to the property, and yes it isn’t paved but never did I need to put the Jeep in 4WD. Just take it slow and enjoy the ride! Plenty of other roads on Tortola just like it. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful views. Pool was refreshing.

Quiet and relaxing with shade and breezes. Would recommend L- configuration sofa or replace club chairs with another sofa and a larger tv. It was well worth the drive down that dirt road.

Whale Watch is a beautiful home with an AMAZING view of Brewers Bay

You'll feel like you are all alone on your own private island while staying here. To reach Whale Watch, you must drive about a third to half a mile back an unpaved, rough road. It wouldn't keep us from returning, we looked at it as an adventure! This home was extremely clean. The kitchen was well stocked with great cookware, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, glassware for drinks, dishes, spices, etc. Whale Watch is conveniently located on the north side of Tortola, about a half hour drive from West End Ferry dock, about 15 minutes from Road Town and 40 minutes from Beef Island. We explored most of the Island during our stay. We found a different bay/beach almost every day, and enjoyed coming back 'home' to Whale Watch after our daily adventures. Cane Garden Bay is just 10 minutes away. Indigo Beach House is a must! And Brewers Bay was 5 munutes down the hill. Don't miss this beauty of a home while visiting Tortola.

We had a wonderful stay!

We loved Whale Watch! It was a perfect space for my husband, me, and 2 teenagers. It was a perfect Tortola experience with beautiful views and Virgin Island breezes. The house is perfectly situated between Brewer’s Bay that was never crowded and always quiet and the more happening Cane Garden Bay with restaurants, bars, and water sports. You will need 4-wheel drive - we rented a Jeep Wrangler and villa staff met us at the car rental location and showed us the way to the house. The villa staff was excellent and always responsive.

We didn't work with Sam directly. We worked with Sharlene and she was absolutely wonderful! She was kind and more than helpful with not only the house, but with other things related to our trip in general. I would highly recommend her for not only this house, but any other property she manages. She was amazing!

This property is exactly as described. Quiet and remote.

This property is exactly as described. Quiet and remote. You definitely need a 4x4 because road to house is not paved. We enjoyed each day there while traveling to various beaches around the island. Pool has a swim flow machine for daily workouts. Communication was excellent! Would recommend to anyone that wants to distance themselves from the everyday hustle and bustle of daily life.

Don’t miss this one!!!

Great place to stay the view was to die for. The bedrooms were a little small but very nice. I will say the last mile you should have a 4 wheel drive especially when it wet, the owner already covered that issue.

We loved staying at Whale Watch!

The house was comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. We loved the open air design, the bay view, and its proximity to multiple quiet beaches (while still being close to town). Sam and her team were fantastic too! They provided a virtual guidebook and recommendations, which we used to plan basically every part of our amazing trip. We’d definitely stay again!

Absolutely stunning view – even better than the pictures.

Definitely need a rental car if staying here though. Sam and her team were excellent hosts as well from start to finish. Very kind, helpful and professional. Highly recommend!
