What a phenomenal villa! Every last detail is beautiful, every little corner is comfortable and every single moment spent here is memorable. Decorated with an eye for design, a taste for luxury, and a knack for combining style and comfort, Patois is decorated and cared for with love. The owner’s impeccable taste shines through at both Patois and it’s sister villa Cohoba just a couple of minutes away (in case you have a larger group of friends or family).

THE INTERIOR

A brick paved pathway leads from the driveway to a large wooden door surrounded by tropical vines that lends a “secret garden” kind of feel.  The courtyard within is central to the 3 separate pavilions that make up the property.

In the 1st pavilion, the kitchen is fitted with stainless steel appliances and anything else you could need, and conveniently positioned between the dining and living rooms. The dining area is not enclosed but sits below a high pitched cathedral style roof and cooling ceiling fan with a comfortable seating porch adjacent. The living room can be fully closed up with wooden louvre doors and windows on all 4 walls, and a TV for some downtime. 

The master bedroom is upstairs in the 2nd pavilion overlooking the pool and has a king bed, its own porch and 2 bathrooms (one with a bath, one with an indoor shower) that share an outdoor shower. 

The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are in the 3rd pavilion accessed from the courtyard when you enter. With a matching floorplan on both levels, the upstairs bedroom has a king size four poster bed while the downstairs bedroom has a queen size four poster bed, both have en suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and personal porches. The 4th bedroom is found beneath the living room (accessed from the driveway or steps leading down from the pool deck), it has a king bed and is incredibly comfortable and welcoming with its king bed and ensuite bathroom, there’s also a separate bedroom with a full size bed between the bedroom and bathroom, that’s perfect for a younger child (9th guest).

THE OUTSIDE

The outdoor spaces are a dream, with various areas dotted around the property so you can chase the sun or shade as you prefer. 

The pool is of course central to any vacation villa, and Patois has the perfect setup with a half bath with shower, wet bar, BBQ, al fresco dining table and sun loungers surrounding it. Beyond the pool is a fantastic little grotto amidst the stonework that’s an absolute favourite spot to hang out in the shade beneath the sails. 

An automatic-start back-up generator and a laundry room (with 2 washers and dryers) complete the amentities for your stress-free vacation. 

Patois is located in the exclusive but welcoming rural estate of Belmont (we also happen to live at Smugglers Cove so I’m a little biased). It overlooks Long Bay and Smuggler’s Cove as it’s “local” beaches just a 3 or 4 minute drive away or it’s a pretty walk down but fairly strenuous exercise on the way back up 😉 Your heavenly views will be towards Jost Van Dyke and uninhabited islands like beautiful Sandy Cay and Sandy Spit. While the conveniences of the stores, restaurants and water taxis at Soper’s Hole Marina and the West End ferry terminal are just 10 minutes away although they’re out of view on the south side of Belmont Ridge. Belmont Salt Pond below is a natural reserve and important ecosystem that regularly attracts flamingos (there are 8 there this week as I write this in August 2023).
