An impeccable luxury villa for an unforgettable vacation, Ridgemont House sits high atop the ridge overlooking the Caribbean Sea on the one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. The 1.8 acre compound includes five private bedrooms (+ office with queen-sized pullout), each with its own ensuite bathroom, and elegant living spaces for all to share.

THE INTERIOR

The villa’s expansive interior and outdoor living space surrounds the large, elegant infinity edge pool and offers total privacy, yet Long Bay Beach is just a short drive down the estate road.

Great Room and Kitchen
The main house contains the formal vaulted living room and dining room. It features paneled ceilings with fans and six sets of 9′ high French doors that open to the terrace running along three sides of the 20′ x 30′ Great Room. The view is stunning. Here you can enjoy the game on the 60″ flat screen TV or your music on the Sonos sound system. The Great Room opens into the fully equipped kitchen appointed with quartz counter tops and Viking cooking appliances.

Office
An air conditioned office located off the Great Room allows for a discreet conference call or a bit of work, if you must. WiFi is available throughout the villa-just bring your own laptop or portable device. An Epson printer is at your disposal in the office. There is a queen size pullout available for additional guests (total 12 guest).

Five Bedrooms
All five of the luxuriously decorated bedrooms feature high ceilings, large windows and patios or balconies that frame captivating views of the Caribbean Sea or the Atlantic, and each provides a king-size bed (alternatively up to two rooms can be converted to XL-twins), 40″ flat screen television, blue tooth connected sound, air conditioning and ceiling fans.

In addition, one of the bedrooms offers all the features of a self-sufficient flat, including an eat-in kitchenette complete with stove, oven, microwave and refrigerator.

Additional Details
Maid service is provided every other day.
The estate road that winds its way up to Ridgemont House is fully paved; a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended for navigating the curves.

Bedroom Specs: 5 king size beds, two can be arranged as four extra large twin beds; all bedrooms have air conditioning, ceiling fan, internet access, 40″ flat screen TVs, and blue tooth connected sound.

Bathroom Specs: 6 full baths; 5 ensuite in bedrooms, one with tub as well as shower. Guest bathroom is on main level with the pool, kitchen and Great Room.

Air Conditioning: 6 individually controlled units in all 5 bedrooms and in the office.

Technology: Internet access in all rooms, 40″ flat screen TVs in each bedroom and 60″ flat screen in Great Room all with satellite service, Sonos sound system in Great Room, kitchen and veranda; blue tooth connected sound in all bedrooms.

THE OUTSIDE

Pool and Deck
Outside there is more than 2000 square feet of living space. Bask in the sun on the expansive deck alongside the elegant infinity edge pool, or lounge in the shade of the veranda’s al fresco seating area or dining area for 10. From here you can take in the breathtaking views along the coastline and across to Jost Van Dyke and its surrounding cays. The guest bathroom, changing room and shower is just off the deck.

Gazebo
To get above it all head to the colorful gazebo high atop the ridge for a cocktail with friends, or some downtime with a quiet snooze in the hammock.

Apple Bay: often has surf in the winter, great for watching or participating
Long Bay: a mile-long white sand beach
Smugglers Cove: a protected cove that’s calm and relaxed

NEAREST RESTAURANTS: There are many good restaurants within 15 minutes drive.

Our first time in the VBI’s and we hit the lottery with this outstanding home. There are lots of beautiful views in the Virgin Islands but I don’t think any could match the view we woke up to and went to bed with every night. The home was fantastic, comfortable, inviting. Each room had its own special view. The pool and landscaped grounds were were superb. The home and the staff were more than accommodating and efficient, they took time to talk, listen ask questions and anticipate our needs. On a scale of 1-10 it was a solid 15! If I only had one recommendation it would be to add HVAC to the main living area and kitchen. Two of the seven days we had good trade winds to cool those areas, but the other five days if no breeze it could get quite hot. 10 steps away was a cool pool to offset it. We plan to return again next year and possibly make it an annual family vacation destination. We had eight adults, two couples and the rest singles and we had more than enough space for togetherness or private quiet space. It’s definitely the perfect island home! (Ronny W vrbo July 22nd 2023)

The best vacation rental I have ever stayed in. We had a group of 8, and everyone was comfortable in their rooms. The estate is well kept and the house was spotless clean. The property was great. 5 en-suite bedrooms which was perfect for our group of 8. (3 couples & 2 singles). The property manager was great. Although it was a bit tough to communicate with her prior to arrival as text / emails didn’t go thru. For those reviewers that said you can walk to restaurants …. LIES. The hike down the hill is treacherous and back up is a BIG no way! And our group is fit. But those reviews are just nonsense. A car barely makes it up …. An SUV is a must. Beautiful home, amazing views. Great layout for multi-family

We really enjoyed our stay. We’ve stayed at many upscale homes and I think we all agree that the layout and pool for this one is the best. Great layout, ideal for finding places to gather as family or find a spot by yourself with amazing views and tropical breezes. We ate multiple times at the outdoor dining table with the pool on one side and the sea on the other. Big, big island in the middle of the kitchen so it didn’t get cramped even with 6 or 8 of us wandering around. Pool was delightful and the landscaping lovely (even though completely outclassed by the view). Nice Sonos sound system for some ambience music. Kitchen does not have AirCond, so can get quite hot in the summer months, and if it was my home, I would upgrade the wifi to satellite and mesh to improve coverage in the house and throughput, as it was a bit flaky. Each bedroom has it’s own AirCond, which worked very well. Three weeks since our stay and I can see the beautiful view of Jost van Dyke in my minds eye. (Robert B vrbo 7.9.2022)

Ridgemont House of Tortola

Ridgemont House is newly renovated and under new ownership. We knew it was a little risky to be the first ones to stay here after the renovation but it turned out to be the best vacation and best experience any of us (four couples) had ever had. The view from everywhere in the villa was breathtaking. The villa faces north with a 180 degree view of the Caribbean and surrounding islands—and there is a gazebo above the villa where you see both sides of the island. The infinity pool (beautiful) sits between the two buildings that make up the villa. Everything is sparkling new, freshly stocked, and newly decorated. The furniture, furnishings, linens, curtains, and all the rooms are well done and quite elegant. The kitchen is a knock out. There also is a separate kitchen in the bedroom where my wife and I stayed but we didn’t use it except for making coffee and keeping some cold drinks in the refrigerator. After we figured out how to connect our cell phones to the Sonos speaker system (you had to download the Sonos app), we were able to listen to our own music throughout the main areas. We hung out together in the living room, kitchen and dining room and lounged by the pool. But when we retreated to our own rooms it was as if each couple was the only couple in the villa. That is, it was quiet and very private. Also, if you are sharing the cost with other couples, every bedroom is comparable with a great view — there is no awkwardness deciding who gets which bedroom. The villa is close to a couple of the best beaches and some lovely restaurants. As for Tortola, the island people are very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Ridgemont House. We will be back! I’m a 30 year resident of the BVI who has been in all the Great Houses on Tortola, and am also a resident of Denmark. This spring, we rented this house for some old family friends, a family of seven who maintain two castles in Europe as their private residences and a major estate at the top of the Peak in Hong Kong. So, they know nice. Frankly, they were blown away by the house design and execution as much as they were the view and grounds. The entire place is fresh, tasteful, and dramatic, and the staff and property managers are all very friendly and helpful. There’s not a person in the world I wouldn’t recommend this property to as an amazing vacation setting. (RS vrbo 4.14.2015)

We loved Ridgemont House! Sam provided excellent communication in the booking process and helped with securing cars, activities and groceries. This house is amazing. We had 5 adult couples and each loved their room. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed. When we were home, we spent most of our time out on the patio and pool deck. The drive is adventurous! The road is well maintained and paved the entire way but is steep and curvy like most of Tortola. We will for sure stay at this house again if needing a house on Tortola. Tortola and the rest of the BVI have made huge strides in coming back from the hurricanes. Most of the places we wanted to go were open and happy to have us and there was progress every day on something new. (Colleen P vrbo 2.1.2019)

What an unbelievable property. Once you enter the gates, on the drive up to the house, you will notice that the landscaping is unbelievable, and you will know that you will be in for an incredible experience. Upon entering the house, you are greeted with amenities that are top notch. Huge kitchen Very modern washer and dryer. Sonos speakers throughout the house. Huge bedrooms. Unbelievable pool/views. A quick 12 steps up behind the Main House, there is a Gazebo that will allow you to see both sides of the Island. Just booked Ridgemont again. We have rented with Sam and JC at the Murray House for 2 years, Gun Point for one, and Ridgemont last year, and they cannot be more accomidating and friendly. (John & Julie P vrbo 4.29.2017)
